31 Days of Holiday Cheer: Sarah Brightman Sings the '70s Tune ‘I Believe in Father Christmas'

Tune in every day this month as we share holiday music videos from our favorite Broadway stars, as well as a few new original videos.

Every day this December, Playbill will be getting into the spirit of the season with 31 Days of Holiday Cheer—sharing some of our favorite music videos from Broadway stars. Check in daily for classic tunes and new songs about Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's. And we even have some surprise new, original Playbill videos to share.

Sarah Brightman has said that Christmas is her favorite holiday. So much so that the soprano has created an annual tradition with her holiday show A Christmas Symphony, which just wrapped the final dates on the North American tour.

In the 2020 version of the concert, which was live-streamed and recorded, she delighted audiences with Christmas classics backed by a full symphony at Christ Church Spitalfields in London. The hour-long concert is available to stream this year with PBS Passport through January 15, 2024. In the video above, she performs Greg Lake's 1975 song “I Believe in Father Christmas,” giving the pop tune a symphonic spin.

Brightman starred on Broadway and the West End as Christine Daaé in Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s The Phantom of the Opera, a role that was written for her. She is next slated to appear in Australia in a new production of Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard—her first theatrical role in more than three decades. Read more about the production here
