AMERICAN THEATRE | Theatre Washington Announces 2023 Theatre Week

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Theatre Washington has announced the return of Theatre Week to celebrate the launch of the 2023-24 local theatre season. The event will be held Sept. 21-Oct. 8.

Theatre Week celebrates the vibrancy of the D.C.-area theatre scene and offers multiple ways for audiences to interact with artists. Patrons can purchase tickets starting at $20 for shows at venues across the region. Additionally, Theatre Week will feature a walking tour of historic venues, conversations with theatre critics, a bike ride, an immersive exhibit celebrating D.C.’s early Black women performers and playwrights, and a kickoff festival. All performances and events are available on the Theatre Week website.

Tickets for all events are now on sale.

Theatre Washington held a press conference at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company on Sept. 14 to announce this year’s Theatre Week festivities. D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser was in attendance.

Theatre Week is created and produced by Theatre Washington, which supports the D.C.-area’s professional theatre community to celebrate artistic achievement, strengthen the theatrical workforce, support institutional advancement, and cultivate collective action. In addition to Theatre Week, Theatre Washington’s core programs include the Helen Hayes Awards and the Taking Care Fund, among others.
