Austin Singer Songwriter Bill Godfrey goes under the influence on haunting new EP “Hypnotized” – Onstage Magazine.com

Austin Singer Songwriter Bill Godfrey allows himself to go under the influence on his haunting new EP “Hypnotized”“Hypnotized” is a 5-track exploration of how the mind seeks influence, leading to all manner of trouble. Vocally, Godfrey literally oozes soul and storytelling acumen, likening him to artists ranging from Jose Gonzales and Cautious Clay to Jeff Buckley and Sufjan Stevens with his untethered, emotionally charged delivery.

Bill Godfrey‘s unique signature sound couples Indie Pop and Folk with Electronica, Soul and Indie Rock. However, his approach is born from classic inspiration. Bill grew up in rural Texas and started playing music at a young age.

“The Kerrville Folk Festival was a big part of my early exposure to playing and singing. It’s a 3 week long camp out in which friends bring instruments and play music together. Only acoustic instruments are allowed. I learned a ton of songs and was exposed to artists like Townes Van Zandt, Rodney Crowell, Guy Clark, Blaze Foley, James Taylor, Carol King and John Prine.”

Sonically, Godrey blends traditional and modern elements seamlessly, creating a sonic experience that is both thought-provoking and emotionally resonant.

“Hypnotized is a coming-of-age exploration of a young mind that seeks identity and love, but struggles to break free from outside influence and control. Each track explores a means of influence over the mind, by way of fear, grief, co-dependence, substances, dogma, or even malice.”

“Hypnotized” is accompanied by an interactive, touchable music video created by Bill himself using web technology. Watch the innovative and immersive visual at Bill Godfrey’s website.
