The band was formed in 2010 in Austin, Texas, by Shane Smith, a singer-songwriter who grew up in Terrell, Texas. He met his bandmates, Bennett Brown (fiddle), Tim Allen (drums), Chase Satterwhite (bass) and Zach Stover (guitar), through the local music scene and they quickly bonded over their love of music and adventure. They named themselves The Saints after the patron saints of travelers, as they embarked on a journey of touring across the country and beyond.

Hail Mary is their fourth studio album, and it reflects their growth as artists and as a band. The album was recorded in Nashville with producer Mark Needham, who has worked with artists like The Killers, Imagine Dragons and Fleetwood Mac. The album features 15 tracks that range from upbeat anthems like “Heaven Knows” and “Whirlwind” to heartfelt ballads like “Oklahoma City” and “We Were Something”. The album also includes a cover of Tom Petty’s “You Don’t Know How It Feels”, which the band performed at Petty Fest in 2017.

The album is a tribute to the band’s fans, who have supported them throughout their career. The title track, “Hail Mary”, is a song that Smith wrote for his wife, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2018. The song is a prayer for her recovery and a celebration of their love. Smith says that the song is “the most personal thing I’ve ever written”.

Shane Smith and The Saints are a band that defies genres and expectations. They are a band that puts their heart and soul into their music and their live shows. They are a band that deserves to be heard by anyone who appreciates good music and good stories.
