Artist Biography

Yung Gravy, aka Matt Hauri, is an irreverent rapper born in Rochester, Minnesota in 1996. While he was attending college in Madison, Wisconsin, he started rapping for fun at parties where he built a small following. In 2016, he quit everything except pursuing his rap career. He spent months self-recording tracks and eventually released his first single “Karen” and first EP Mr. Clean. The EP used doo-wop samples along with trap beats, and the single “Mr. Clean” had multiple fan videos with some of them going viral. From there, Yung Gravy started releasing hit viral videos and very catchy tracks, including 2018’s “1 Thot 2 Thot Red Thot Blue Thot” which also used retro-sourced samples. He started building a huge fan base with many sold-out shows. This got the attention of Republic who signed Yung Gravy and released his major-label debut EP Snow Cougar. In 2019, he released his full-length debut Sensational which landed just outside of the Top 50 on the Billboard 200. From there, he started working in collaborations with many well-known artists, with his more recent work being with Dillon Francis, T-Pain, bbno$, and others. His first Hot 100 hit, which landed at number 30, was the 2022 single “Betty (Get Money)” which used a Rick Astley sampling.
